Are you in your own head?

by | Nov 1, 2023 | Uncategorized

I get in my own head very often.

But as of late I’ve tried to have a different outlook on how I view my fitness journey.

I suppose a little bit of comparison is the cause.

And comparison is something that we are all guilty of right?

It’s so easy to get caught up in…

The girl on social media with a tiny waist and a peach so round it should be in the fruit aisle at Tesco.

The woman who lifts heavy on a daily basis and looks physically strong.

The mum who has her shit together, house immaculate, kids entertained, food prepped in glass tuppaware and glamorous workouts smashed every week.

It’s so easy to look at others and think you aren’t doing enough.

But these are highlights.

These women are probably doing the same as us. Comparing.

So, rather than putting pressure on myself I’ve praised myself instead.

I eat healthily with a good balance of enjoyment on the side.

I struggle with injury on a daily basis which impacts weight training…but I can still move my body and in a way that I enjoy.

I do steady cardio every morning because it sets me up for the day.

I have a family to tend to, a house to keep tidy, friends to see and clients to coach whilst trying to also take time for myself…and I manage it really well.

I’m doing ok. Better than ok.

As I’ve gotten older (and hopefully wiser) I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter what others are doing or where they are in their journey as long as I am happy in my own.

I sit here typing this with my work laptop open, a child watching you tube shouting me every 5 minutes, toys ALL over the floor, a living room rug that needs hoovering, pillows thrown about, bowls on the sofa, I’ve had a workout this morning and I still haven’t showered yet and I’ve still got things to do.

I’m gonna attach a photo from my workout that will show the highlight of the day so far but it’s far from where I am right now at this moment in time.

Bare that in mind when you are scrolling and wondering if you are doing enough.

If you moved your body today, if you ate well, if you prioritised your fitness journey even though it may not be social media worthy…you’re winning! 😃💪🏼

Thanks for reading and I hope it helps.

Kelly 🙂
